Taming the new crop of kids requires a community effort...
It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!
At Laughing Dog Farm, in Gill, Massachusetts, we manage our dairy goat herd by "socializing" the newborn kids from day one. By handling the (especially doeling) kids every day, they become super-friendly and bonded to us for life. This not only yields a calmer, friendlier, less "feral" goat, but it also makes management and milking infinitely easier. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it!
